4.5 out of 5 stars 57 ratings

After her teenage romance with now popular music star, Aristar, ended in a disastrous heartbreak twelve years ago, Adaora finds herself thrust back into his life when her financial firm is employed to organise Aristar’s finances. She has a fortress built around her heart and finds it hard to trust. Can she forget the bitter past and allow love to find her once again, or is the past enough to shatter her dreams of happily ever after forever?

Ikenna, one of Nigeria’s highest paid musicians, is finally at the top of his game. He has fame, more money that he could ever dream of, and the life he has always wanted. He seems to have it all, but something is missing. In spite of all the women who persistently threw themselves at him, the one person he can't seem to forget is Adaora. He has manipulated events to bring her back into his life, but will he be able to convince her to give them another chance, or will the bitterness of the past destroy their chance at happiness?

I am so impressed with this author. She writes in such a way that brings characters to life and makes them easy to relate to. Having been born and raised in the part of Africa where this story is set makes it all the more realistic. I struggled to put this book down till I got to the last page. Can't wait to read the next book in this series.

Refreshing read of romance set in Nigeria. The story line was intelligent and had enough twists to keep the reader engaged. It also addresses some of the ongoing debate about the liberties of single successful women in Nigeria. Would love to see more books from the author and I believe the book could easily be a best seller. Kudos to Amaka Azie!!

I can not remember the last time I stayed up till 6am to read a novel. I was captivated from the start. There are not many novels with a Nigerian setting that have gripped my attention like this. Well done to the author. This is a great first book. I look forward to more books and more reading till dawn.

A lovely second chance romance. Ikenna has gone from rags to riches, but has maintained his humility – this was a very appealing characteristic for him. Yet with all that he has accomplished he has not been able to get over his first love. I sigh with the sweetness of it. The sparks still fly between Adaora and Ikenna as their romantic adventure together continues after years of being apart.

Reminds me of my teenage years when all that mattered was the special someone in your life and how you never could spend enough time with this special someone.
Thanks Amaka for bringing to life true love.
A Must read, it would remind you of all the reasons for falling so madly in love the first time.

What a truly sweet read. It was a story of an innocent love blossoming into something more matured, intense and heartwarming. I enjoyed the storyline way too much. And Adaora's protective brothers made the story so real and rich. And the emotional connection between Ikenna and Adaora scaled every painful hurdle. A lovely story. I strongly recommend.

Unashamedly a romantic novel, captivating from the very first chapter. Though fiction, well written, very beleivable and takes one through the journey of falling in love complete with all the emotions. Well done Amaka, I can't wait for the other books in the trilogy.
